Industrialist Anand Mahindra, renowned for his engaging and witty social media presence, reacted enthusiastically to SpaceX's recent groundbreaking achievement. After Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully executed a mid-air catch of its 19-storey (233-foot) Super Heavy rocket booster using advanced mechanical arms, Mahindra took to social media platform X to share a video of this remarkable feat.

In his post, Mahindra expressed his delight, stating, “And this Sunday, I’m happy to be a couch potato if it means that I get to watch history being made. This experiment may just be the critical moment when space travel was democratised and made routine. Where can I buy my ticket, Elon Musk?”

The SpaceX rocket, known as Starship, accomplished this unprecedented feat during its test flight, returning to its launch pad where it was caught by two enormous mechanical arms. As the video showed, when the Super Heavy booster began its descent, a colossal structure referred to as "Mechazilla" sprang into action. The robotic arms, affectionately dubbed "chopsticks," extended to securely embrace the incoming rocket.

This achievement is regarded as a significant engineering milestone in SpaceX's ongoing efforts to develop reusable spacecraft for missions to the Moon and Mars. 

The first stage of the rocket, the Super Heavy booster, lifted off at 7:25 am local time from SpaceX's Boca Chica launch facilities in Texas, successfully sending the Starship second stage rocket toward space. At an altitude of approximately 70 kilometers (40 miles), the booster separated and began its return to land, culminating in the successful catch.

The moment was celebrated with thunderous applause from SpaceX employees, as well as space enthusiasts worldwide, who tuned in to watch the live stream of this historic event. Mahindra’s reaction underscores the excitement surrounding advancements in space travel and technology, highlighting how such achievements inspire the next generation of explorers and innovators.
