Major General Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, the Director of the Criminal Security Sector, emphasized that the Abu Dhabi Police are focused on improving law enforcement services. They are also working hard to prevent crimes and raise awareness among the public to protect the country’s security and assets. This effort is part of a larger plan to make sure everyone stays safe and to stop crime before it happens.
One common scam involves fake trading platforms. Scammers create websites or ads that look professional and promise high returns. They even show fake profits to make it seem real. However, when victims try to withdraw their money, they realize they cannot access it. This scam tricks many people into investing their money, only to lose it.
Another scam involves fake websites that look like trusted companies, such as insurance companies, restaurants, or retailers. These sites offer great deals, but once people make payments using their credit cards, the scammers steal their money. These websites may look real, but they are just tricks to steal funds.
The police also warned that during big events or celebrations, scammers might create fake job listings or social media programs. These fake job offers ask applicants to pay money for jobs that don’t even exist. People usually find out they’ve been scammed after making the payment.
To stay safe, the Abu Dhabi Police advised people to protect their personal information when using the internet or smartphones. This will help prevent phone scams, blackmail, and other online fraud.
If you believe you've been scammed, the police encourage you to report it to the nearest police station or use the “Police Station in Your Phone” service through the Abu Dhabi Police app. They also have a special hotline at 8002626, and you can text 2828 to help stop fraud and keep the community safe.
