Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Live Updates: Vote Counting to Decide Fate of Over 8,000 Candidates from 542 Seats Underway

The counting of votes for the 2024 general elections, which will determine the fate of over 8,000 candidates contesting for 542 Lok Sabha seats, is currently underway. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in 294 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress-led INDIA bloc is ahead in 231 seats.

The Congress party, which is nearing the 100-seat mark, appears to be on track to nearly double its tally from previous elections. In 2019, the Congress secured 52 seats, an improvement from the 44 seats won in the 2014 elections.

At the heart of this election is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's bid for a third consecutive term.
