Dell Technologies is changing the way it names its computers to make it simpler, like how Apple names its devices. The company announced that it will stop using old names like “XPS” and “Inspiron.” Instead, it will just use the word “Dell” for its new computers. This change was shared before the big CES tech show happening this week.

Dell’s Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Clarke, said that customers want names that are easy to remember and say. He admitted that the old names were confusing, and it shouldn’t take too long for people to figure out what they mean. The goal is to make shopping for a computer easier for everyone.
PC sales have been low for a while, especially after many people bought computers early in the pandemic. Dell, along with other companies like HP and Lenovo, is trying new ways to get people to buy new computers. They are focusing on computers that are made to work better with new technology and the end of support for Microsoft Windows 10, which could push people to upgrade.
Dell’s new PCs will be divided into three types: Dell, Dell Pro, and Dell Pro Max. This new system will help customers see what each computer is best for and choose the one they need.
During the press meeting, people noticed that the names are similar to Apple’s. Apple uses “Pro” and “Pro Max” for its more expensive iPhones. Dell hopes that using simpler names like these will make it easier for people to pick the right computer.
This change shows that Dell wants to make its computers easier to understand and more appealing to people, hoping to sell more PCs in a competitive market.
