Washington has reportedly supplied Israel with a significant amount of munitions, including over 10,000 2,000-pound bombs and thousands of Hellfire missiles, since the onset of the Gaza conflict last October. According to U.S. officials familiar with the matter, the shipments include at least 14,000 MK-84 bombs, 6,500 500-pound bombs, 3,000 Hellfire missiles, 1,000 bunker-buster bombs, and 2,600 air-dropped small-diameter bombs.
The deliveries, which have not been publicly disclosed until now, indicate sustained U.S. military support for Israel despite international calls to curb weapons transfers. Experts noted that these supplies align with Israel's needs to replenish munitions used during its eight-month military campaign in Gaza, triggered by a deadly attack by Palestinian Hamas on October 7.

"While significant, these munitions are essential for Israel's defense against Hamas and potential conflicts with Hezbollah," commented Tom Karako of the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The recent shipment pause of a 2,000-pound bomb highlighted concerns over civilian casualties in Gaza, although other arms transfers continue unabated.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously suggested delays in U.S. weapons deliveries, a claim refuted by U.S. officials despite acknowledged logistical challenges. The Biden administration, while affirming $6.5 billion in weapons sent since October 7, emphasized conditions on aid if civilian protection and humanitarian access in Gaza are not ensured.
As tensions persist between Israel and Hezbollah amid ongoing Gaza conflict fallout, discussions between the U.S. and Israel are reportedly ongoing regarding suspended bomb shipments. The situation underscores heightened international scrutiny over civilian casualties and infrastructure damage in Gaza, with calls for greater transparency in U.S. military support processes.
This development contrasts with the more transparent reporting on U.S. military aid to Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia, reflecting different diplomatic and strategic considerations.
