Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, known for his staunch support of Israel, criticized President Joe Biden for pausing the delivery of 3,000 heavy bombs to Israel. During an interview on NBC News, Graham drew parallels between the Israel-Hamas conflict and World War II, specifically referencing the U.S. decision to drop nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the war. He asserted that Israel should be provided with the bombs it needs to bring an end to the conflict, emphasizing the country's right to defend itself as a Jewish state.
Graham further justified his stance by arguing that Hamas, the militant group governing Gaza, bears responsibility for civilian casualties due to its use of civilians as human shields. He expressed frustration with Hamas's tactics, stating that it makes it nearly impossible to avoid civilian deaths in Gaza.

President Biden's decision to halt the bomb delivery to Israel and his criticism of Israel's military campaign come amidst growing dissent within the U.S., particularly among Democrats and progressive activists. Biden's administration has indicated that it will reassess its support for Israel's military actions, particularly in light of civilian casualties and concerns about humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
The Senator's remarks reflect the ongoing debate within the U.S. regarding its relationship with Israel and its approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict. While Israel enjoys broad bipartisan support in Congress, there are increasing calls for a reassessment of U.S. policy towards the region, including the possibility of conditioning military aid to Israel on its adherence to human rights standards and international law.
