UAE’s Emirates Airline has issued a clear reminder for all UAE nationals: your travel document must have at least six months’ validity if you plan to fly internationally. This rule applies to both passports and Emirates IDs, regardless of your destination, with the exception of GCC countries.
According to the airline, passengers whose travel documents fall short of this requirement will not be allowed to complete the check-in process. “It is crucial for travellers to verify their document’s validity before heading to the airport,” Emirates said in a statement citing UAE government regulations.
For those who find their documents near expiry, Emirates has made the renewal process more accessible. Passengers can visit the Terminal 3 Arrival Level Immigration Offices, where passport renewals typically take around 30 minutes. The duration may vary depending on passenger volume.

This reminder comes at a time when international travel demand is rising, and many UAE residents are planning trips abroad. Experts emphasize that keeping travel documents updated is not only a regulatory requirement but also helps avoid last-minute disruptions and costly travel delays.
With Emirates underlining the importance of compliance, travellers are advised to plan ahead and ensure their passports or Emirates IDs meet the six-month validity rule, securing smooth journeys across the globe.
