Residents of certain areas in Dubai and Sharjah are finding it difficult to resume their normal lives as streets continue to be flooded even six days after heavy rains hit the region. Reports indicate that several neighborhoods, including Al Majaz, Jamal Abdul Nasir, Al Wahda, Mudon, Warsan, and Discovery Gardens, are still grappling with waterlogging, making it challenging for residents to navigate through the inundated streets.
The situation has prompted many tenants to reconsider their living arrangements, with some expressing a reluctance to renew their tenancy contracts upon expiry. Instead, they are exploring the possibility of relocating to areas that are less prone to flooding, seeking more stable and safer living conditions for themselves and their families.

One resident, a Syrian national who has resided in Discovery Gardens for nine years, expressed frustration over the ongoing flooding, highlighting the difficulty of accessing essential services such as grocery stores due to the waterlogged streets. He mentioned plans to move out of the area if he finds a better option elsewhere.
Similarly, another resident, Priya Prasana, who resides in Abu Shagara, revealed that she may not renew her tenancy contract due to the current condition of her building and the surrounding area. Despite recently renewing her contract, Prasana indicated a willingness to move out upon completion of the lease term, citing concerns about the persistent flooding and its impact on her living conditions.
Residents like Faisal Ahmed from Warsan 1 shared accounts of the challenges they faced in evacuating families and children from flooded buildings, highlighting the urgency of finding alternative accommodations. Ahmed emphasized the need to address underlying infrastructure issues to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Abu Ayat, a resident of Al Majaz, echoed similar sentiments, expressing a desire to relocate to areas less susceptible to flooding. He recalled previous instances of severe flooding in the area and stressed the importance of finding a more stable living environment.
Overall, residents affected by the ongoing flooding are actively considering their options and seeking solutions to ensure their safety and well-being amidst challenging circumstances.
