Sultan Bin Ahmed Greenlights UOS Strategic Plan and Budget

During the 57th meeting of the University of Sharjah's Board of Trustees, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University, expressed pride in the institution's prestigious status on local, regional, and international platforms. He emphasized the substantial support and dedicated efforts contributing to the university's comprehensive development.

The Sheikh hailed the University of Sharjah's esteemed position globally, citing its recognition in renowned rankings such as the Times Higher Education ranking, the QS ranking, and the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. He commended the institution's leadership in research output and citations in global databases.

The board greenlit the university's budget for the academic year 2024/2025, totaling 1.171 billion dirhams. Additionally, they approved the graduation of 1,865 students, including doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degree recipients.

Several specialized centers were established, including the "Sharjah Smart Centre for Weather and Climate Change Risk Management," the "Water and Environmental Conservation Research Centre," and the "Sharjah Centre for Public Opinion Polls." Furthermore, the academic title of Emeritus Professor was introduced.

Strategic initiatives for 2024-2030 were endorsed, focusing on enhancing localization efforts, expanding master's and doctoral programs, and attracting distinguished scholars. The "National Scholars" initiative aims to enroll outstanding Emirati bachelor's degree holders, aiming for over 500 scientists by 2050.

Promotions for 24 faculty members, the initiation of academic accreditation procedures for new programs, and a comprehensive review of the university's performance were also undertaken. The strategic plan for 2024-2030 emphasizes increasing localization, developing Emirati staff, and strengthening research collaborations.

The University of Sharjah boasts a wide range of academic programs, with 75% accredited by international bodies. Efforts to align courses with industry requirements and support state initiatives in education were highlighted. Infrastructure enhancements and global cooperation agreements further solidify the university's commitment to excellence.
