In South Kordofan, heavy artillery fire struck the state capital, Kadugli, killing at least 40 people and injuring 70 more. Two medical sources confirmed the toll. The attack targeted a local market, causing panic among the residents. Governor Mohamed Ibrahim blamed a faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu. The SPLM-N has a presence in the area and has clashed with both the army and RSF during the ongoing conflict. Ibrahim accused the group of trying to destabilize the region and vowed to remove rebel forces from the mountains surrounding Kadugli.

In the western region of Darfur, another tragedy unfolded. A military airstrike on Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, killed 25 people and wounded 63. The bombing targeted the Cinema District in Nyala, an area controlled by the RSF. The RSF has accused the army of using "barrel bombs" in multiple neighborhoods in Nyala, causing even more harm to civilians.

Meanwhile, El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, remains under siege by the RSF. This city is home to over two million people, and many have been trapped with little access to food and supplies since May. Recent fighting in North Darfur has forced over 600,000 people to flee their homes, as reported by the UN's migration agency. The conflict has created one of the largest displacement crises in the region.

The fighting isn't just in South Kordofan and Darfur. In Khartoum, Sudan's capital, the army has made significant progress against the RSF. Last week, the army managed to break through a siege at its headquarters and a nearby communications center in Khartoum North, which had been surrounded by the RSF for months. However, violence continues in the capital, with shelling of busy markets. On Saturday, at least 60 people were killed, and over 150 were injured when the RSF targeted a market in Omdurman, a city near Khartoum. In another attack, an airstrike hit an RSF-controlled area, killing two civilians and injuring several others.

Throughout the war, both sides have been accused of targeting civilians, indiscriminately bombing residential areas causing destruction. The violence has taken a heavy toll on Sudan's population, killing tens of thousands of people and forcing more than 12 million to flee their homes. Many hospitals and health facilities are no longer functioning due to the ongoing attacks.

As the army continues to advance in Khartoum, the UN has raised concerns about the growing human cost of the war. The UN Secretary-General's spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, expressed worry over reports of summary executions of civilians, especially in Khartoum North. These killings are believed to be carried out by fighters and militias allied with the army. Many of the victims are reported to be from Darfur and Kordofan, two regions that have been heavily affected by the war.

The situation in Sudan remains dire, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence. The UN has urged all parties to stop fighting and work toward peace, but it seems the conflict is far from over. Women, children, and men in Sudan are suffering as the war drags on, and the international community continues to call for an end to the bloodshed.
