The launch of SpaceX’s four-person ‘Polaris Dawn’ mission has been rescheduled to Wednesday, August 28, following a helium leak detected in ground equipment at Kennedy Space Center. The postponement was announced just hours before the mission was set to lift off.
In a statement posted on X, SpaceX explained, “Teams are taking a closer look at a ground-side helium leak on the Quick Disconnect umbilical. Falcon and Dragon remain healthy, and the crew continues to be ready for their multi-day mission to low-Earth orbit. The next launch opportunity is no earlier than Wednesday, August 28.”
The delay is attributed to a helium leak in the Quick Disconnect umbilical, a crucial component for the launch preparation. Despite the setback, SpaceX reassured that both the Falcon rocket and Dragon spacecraft are in good condition, and the crew is prepared for the mission, which aims to reach low-Earth orbit.
