The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has announced the results of its "Itqan" program for the academic year 2023-2024, marking significant improvements in the performance of private schools across the emirate compared to previous evaluations.
In the latest edition of the program, which builds on earlier assessments conducted in the academic years 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, the results demonstrated a notable qualitative enhancement in school performances, showing an increase of up to 80% compared to evaluations conducted in 2018 and 2019.
According to the SPEA, all private schools in Sharjah now provide at least an "acceptable" level of education, with 68% of schools offering a "good" or better standard. This translates to 117 schools providing "acceptable" or higher education quality, out of which 79 schools are rated as "good" or better.
The detailed breakdown of ratings revealed one school achieving an "outstanding" rating, 9 schools receiving a "very good" rating, 69 schools classified as "good," and 38 schools rated as "acceptable." Notably, no school in the emirate received a rating lower than "acceptable" in the latest evaluation.

Comparing the current results with those from 2018 and 2019, the improvement is stark: the number of schools delivering "good" or better education has surged from 8 to 79. This substantial enhancement has directly impacted student outcomes, with the number of students receiving "good" or better education increasing significantly from 25,351 to 145,042. Conversely, the number of students receiving "acceptable" or lower education has decreased from 146,539 to 44,550.
The "Itqan" program underscores its success in enhancing educational standards across private schools in Sharjah, benefiting approximately 145,042 male and female students out of a total of 189,592. This accounts for 76% of all private school students in the emirate now receiving a "good" or better education, marking a positive stride towards educational excellence.
The results affirm SPEA's commitment to continuous improvement and accountability within the private education sector, ensuring that all students in Sharjah have access to quality education that meets or exceeds acceptable standards.
