Pop star Shakira has been hospitalized due to an abdominal issue, leading her to cancel a concert in Peru. The singer was in the middle of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour when the health problem occurred.

In a statement posted on her Instagram Stories, Shakira explained the situation. She wrote, "I’m sorry to inform you that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am now in the hospital," as reported by People magazine.

Following advice from her doctors, Shakira made the tough decision to cancel her scheduled performance at Peru's National Stadium. She shared that her doctors had told her she was not in good enough condition to perform that evening. “I’m very sad not to be able to take the stage today,” Shakira said. She added that she had been excited to perform for her fans in Peru.

Despite the setback, Shakira expressed hope for a quick recovery, hoping she would be well enough to leave the hospital and perform at her next show in Lima. She assured her fans that her team and the promoters were working hard to reschedule the show for a new date.

In closing, she thanked her supporters, saying, “Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all.” She ended the message with her signature sign-off: "Shak." However, she did not share any additional details about her abdominal issue.

Shakira’s hospitalization comes just days after she began her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour in Rio de Janeiro on February 11. The news also comes shortly after she won the Best Latin Pop Album award for her album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on February 2. This was her first album release in seven years.

During her Grammy acceptance speech, Shakira dedicated the award to "all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country," adding, “You are loved, you are worth it, and I will always fight with you.” She also honored hardworking women, saying, “To all of those women who work hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true 'sheroes.' So this is for you, too.”
