The summer heat has officially arrived in the UAE, with the temperature touching a blazing 43 degrees Celsius in major cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. The hot weather has prompted officials to issue heat advisories, asking residents to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours and take extra care while outdoors.

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the temperature is expected to remain high throughout the week, especially in the interior and western parts of the country. Humidity levels may increase slightly during the evenings, adding to the discomfort.

Where Was It Hottest?

In Dubai, the highest temperature was recorded in the Al Maktoum International Airport area, while in Abu Dhabi, the Al Shawamekh and Al Dhafra regions saw similar peaks. Coastal areas also remained hot but were slightly moderated by sea breezes.

Other parts of the UAE, including Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah, also experienced temperatures ranging from 40°C to 42°C, making it one of the hottest days of the season so far.

Authorities Advise Caution

Government officials and weather experts are urging residents to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the heat. People working outdoors, especially in construction and delivery jobs, are at higher risk for heatstroke and dehydration.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has reminded employers to comply with the midday break rule, which bans outdoor work between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm from mid-June to mid-September.

Residents are advised to:

  • Stay indoors during peak hours

  • Drink plenty of water

  • Wear light, loose-fitting clothes

  • Avoid heavy meals and caffeine during the day

  • Keep air conditioning and fans in working order

Parents are especially advised to keep children indoors and hydrated, as they are more vulnerable to heat-related health issues.

Health Experts Speak Out

Doctors across UAE hospitals have reported a rise in heat-related illnesses, including cases of fatigue, dizziness, and sunburns. Health experts recommend applying sunscreen, wearing hats or umbrellas, and avoiding direct sun exposure for long durations.

Pharmacies have also seen a surge in the sale of oral rehydration salts, electrolyte drinks, and cooling pads.

When Will It Cool Down?

Unfortunately, meteorologists do not expect a drop in temperatures anytime soon. In fact, July and August are typically the hottest months in the UAE, with temperatures often touching 45°C or more. However, occasional wind shifts and cloud cover may provide brief relief during the evenings.
