Qatar Airways is planning to increase the number of flights to Syria as more travelers are flying to the country after years of war. The airline sees a growing demand for flights to Damascus and wants to offer more options for passengers.
The airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, confirmed that Qatar Airways will add one more daily flight to Damascus starting in June. The airline already operates this route using an Airbus A330, a large aircraft with plenty of seating capacity. Currently, flights on this route are almost full, with a 90% occupancy rate.

Qatar Airways was among the first international airlines to restart flights to the Syrian capital in January after the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s government. Many airlines had stopped flying to Damascus over a decade ago when protests in Syria turned into a full-scale civil war.
The airline also played a key role in resuming flights to Lebanon. In November, after a ceasefire was reached between Israel and Lebanon, Qatar Airways quickly restarted flights to Beirut. This move is expected to help people traveling for business and family visits, especially in Africa and Brazil, where many Lebanese communities live.
Antinori explained that reopening flights to Beirut is good for business in Africa and Brazil. He pointed out that Lebanese communities in countries like Ivory Coast in West Africa and Brazil often rely on flights to Lebanon. As a global airline, Qatar Airways connects people from different parts of the world, and these routes help strengthen those connections.
In addition to expanding flights to Syria, Qatar Airways is also increasing flights to Germany. On Tuesday, the airline announced it will introduce a third daily flight from Doha to Berlin due to rising demand. This is an important route for the airline, as there is no competition from Emirates on this particular connection.
Qatar Airways now flies to five cities in Germany, including Hamburg, where it launched flights last year. The airline is also considering adding flights to other German cities in the future. One of the possible destinations is Stuttgart, an important industrial city and home to major car manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.
With these expansions, Qatar Airways is strengthening its network and providing more travel options for passengers worldwide.
