The program is specifically designed for professionals working in 20 government and semi-government organizations. Its goal is to provide participants with the skills they need to lead communication efforts in a fast-changing media world. It combines academic knowledge, international best practices, and real-world experience to ensure Dubai’s government communicators can effectively engage both local and global audiences.
Mona Al Marri, the Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, spoke about the importance of strategic communication in shaping opinions and influencing the public. She explained, "The program gives Dubai’s emerging leaders the tools, insights, and global perspective to tell the city’s story with confidence. We are working on creating the next generation of storytellers who will be able to capture the spirit of Dubai and translate that into meaningful, forward-thinking messages."
Nehal Badri, the Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, also commented on the program. She said, "Strong institutions are built on strong communication, and the Media Leadership Program reflects this belief. It provides participants with global best practices and helps them develop the skills needed to adapt to the ever-changing media landscape. Whether it’s for international engagement or building public trust, the program addresses the real-world demands of modern government communication."
Hesham Al Olama, the Director of Strategy at the Dubai Media Council, spoke about the program’s design. He said, "This program has been carefully created to meet global standards while focusing on the specific needs of Dubai as a growing city with an international presence. It aims to develop strategic thinkers who can lead with clarity, build trust, and craft unique stories that get results. The talent in this group gives us great confidence in the future of Dubai’s media leadership."
The nine-month Media Leadership Program was created in partnership with globally respected institutions like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Columbia University, and George Washington University. The course includes international study tours to countries known for their expertise in government communication. Through lectures, workshops, and practical training, participants will gain the skills and certification necessary to carry out successful government media strategies.
The program is an important part of the Dubai Media Council’s larger strategy, which focuses on enabling talent, promoting innovation, and aligning media capabilities with the city’s long-term development goals.
