Dubai: Qatar Airways has announced a temporary and limited flight schedule after the closure of Qatari airspace forced the airline to suspend most of its operations. The disruption left thousands of passengers waiting for updates on their travel plans.
The airline said it received temporary permission from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority to operate select flights through restricted air corridors. These flights are being arranged mainly to help passengers whose journeys were interrupted when the airspace was closed.
Limited flights from March 13 to March 17
According to the airline, the limited schedule will run from March 13 to March 17. During this period, selected flights will operate to gradually move stranded passengers and support travellers trying to continue their journeys.
In a statement, the airline said these flights are meant only to assist passengers affected by the disruption and do not mean a full return to normal flight operations.
Passengers who are eligible to travel on these flights will be contacted directly by the airline. Travellers have been advised not to go to the airport unless they have a confirmed ticket.
Authorities still assessing airspace reopening
Operations remain restricted while authorities continue to review the situation and assess when it will be safe to fully reopen the country's airspace. A complete restoration of normal commercial flight schedules has not yet been confirmed.
The airline added that it is working continuously to help affected passengers and reunite them with their families as quickly as possible.
Flexible travel options for passengers
Passengers with confirmed bookings between February 28 and March 28 have been offered flexible travel options.
These options include:
Free change of travel date until April 30 when rebooking on Qatar Airways flights
A full refund for the unused value of tickets
Travellers are advised to check updates or manage their bookings through the airline’s official website or mobile application, which remains the fastest way to modify travel plans during the disruption.
