But everything changed when she met David Lynch. He gave her a big chance by casting her in the movie *Mulholland Drive* in 2001. This movie made her a star. Naomi said, “I wouldn’t have stayed in Hollywood if I hadn’t met David Lynch.” Before meeting him, Naomi was feeling very hopeless. “Things were bad, and I was desperate for a job. I kept telling people, ‘I need work!’,” she remembered.
She said that at the time, even her agent told her she was “too intense.” Naomi was really desperate and even planned to go home many times. But when she met David Lynch for an audition, she knew something was different. “David has a special way of choosing actors,” Naomi explained. He sat down with her, looked her in the eyes, and asked deep questions. Naomi was nervous and thought she wasn’t right for the role. She felt like she wasn’t funny, pretty, or good enough. But David Lynch believed in her and helped her believe in herself.
After *Mulholland Drive*, Naomi worked with David Lynch again in projects like *Rabbits* and *Twin Peaks: The Return*. When David Lynch passed away at the age of 78, Naomi posted a tribute on Instagram. She said working with him was a rare and special experience. “He had a way of making films that inspired many people around the world,” Naomi added.
David Lynch is famous for making movies and TV shows that are strange and creative. He is known for the TV show *Twin Peaks* and movies like *Blue Velvet* and *Mulholland Drive*. His style of filmmaking was different, mixing deep, confusing ideas with dream-like images, which made him a legend in the world of cinema.
