Indian authorities are doing everything they can to help Amit Gupta, an Indian national who was detained by Qatari authorities in connection with an ongoing investigation. People close to the matter shared this information on Saturday.
Amit Gupta, who works as a senior employee at the IT company Tech Mahindra, was detained by the Qatari authorities on January 1. His mother, Pushpa Gupta, spoke to the media in Vadodara and confirmed the detention. Gupta’s father mentioned that he was taken into custody by Qatar’s state security.
The Indian embassy in Qatar is aware of Gupta’s detention. They are closely monitoring the situation and providing all possible help. However, no details about the investigation or charges against Gupta have been shared. People familiar with the matter said that the embassy has been in constant touch with Gupta's family, his lawyer, and the Qatari authorities.

Gupta’s mother also went to Qatar and met with the Indian ambassador there. She shared that the ambassador told her there has been no "positive response" so far regarding her son's case.
BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Hemang Joshi informed the media that Gupta, who is from Vadodara, has been working for Tech Mahindra in Qatar for the past 10 years. According to Joshi, Gupta was detained by Qatari security forces. His parents went to Qatar and tried to meet him, but they were unable to see him.
This incident is the second case since 2022 where an Indian national has been detained in Qatar. In 2022, eight former Indian Navy personnel, including highly decorated officers, were detained in Qatar. They were sentenced to death in 2023, but their sentences were later reduced by a Qatari court, and they were released in February 2024 after the Qatari Emir's intervention.
At this moment, Gupta’s family and the Indian embassy are working hard to resolve the matter and get more information on the case.
