During his official trip to the Kingdom in December 2025, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, was bestowed with Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian award, the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence.
The recognition was conferred upon him through a Royal Decree issued by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. This medal is recognized as Saudi Arabia's premier national honour.
Saudi leaders commended Field Marshal Munir for his exemplary professionalism, strategic vision, and dedication to bolstering the historical ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
In his speech, Field Marshal Munir expressed heartfelt thanks to the Saudi leadership and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for this honor, noting that it symbolizes the deep and lasting connections between the two nations.
Throughout his visit, Munir reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the security, stability, and prosperity of Saudi Arabia. He also held talks with Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Saudi Minister of Defence.
The discussions touched on crucial topics like regional security, military collaboration, defense strategies, and other strategic matters. This dialogue underscored the significance of robust Pakistan-Saudi relations and a mutual dedication to regional peace.
Receiving this award reflects the esteemed recognition of Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership and efforts, further solidifying the historic bonds and mutual trust shared between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
