Expo City Dubai has taken a big step toward building a greener and healthier future. It has chosen Proscape, a well-known landscape company, to create a large nature reserve in Expo Valley. This decision shows Expo City’s strong focus on protecting nature and giving people more green spaces to enjoy.

A Vision for Green Living

The new nature reserve will be part of Expo Valley, a special gated community in Expo City Dubai. This project is a big part of the city’s master plan to make urban living more friendly to the environment. The nature reserve will cover 10 hectares and will be filled with trees, plants, and natural features like a lake and a wadi (a dry riverbed that can fill with water during rain).

Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer at Expo City Dubai, shared,

“This nature reserve is a very important part of our plan. It shows how we care for nature and want to make a city that helps people live better, healthier lives. It will be a space where people can relax and feel close to nature.”

Saving Trees from Expo 2020

What makes this reserve even more special is that many of the trees will come from Expo 2020 Dubai. More than two-thirds of the 1,200 trees planned for the reserve are legacy trees. These trees have been carefully taken care of and kept alive in a nursery on the Expo site. They include strong native trees like acacia and ghaf, which are well-suited to the UAE’s hot climate.

The mix of native and adaptive trees means that the green space will be able to stay healthy and green even in tough weather. Wildlife experts are also working with the team to make sure the area supports birds, animals, and different types of plants.

A Clean and Healthy City for the Future

Expo City Dubai wants to be a model city that mixes smart design with care for the planet. It is the first city in the Middle East and North Africa to receive pre-certification in the WELL Community standard. This means it is being built to improve the health and wellbeing of the people who live there. The city is also working to get high-level green building awards like LEED Platinum and BREEAM Excellent, which show that it meets strong global standards for sustainability.

The city is designed around the “15-minute city” idea. This means that everything people need—homes, schools, shops, and parks—will be within a 15-minute walk or bike ride. This helps reduce car use, lowers pollution, and makes life easier and healthier for residents.

Proscape’s Role and Work Plan

Proscape is excited to be part of this important project. Naser M Ahmed, Group CEO of Proscape, said,

“We are proud to work with Expo City on this project. Our goal is to create a place where people can enjoy nature and feel good about the world around them.”

The company will start working on the site in July 2025. Their job includes shaping the land, building the lake, setting up strong water systems, and putting in the needed roads and paths. The nature reserve should be ready in the first half of 2026.

Expo Valley: A Place to Call Home

The nature reserve is at the heart of Expo Valley, which is planned as a peaceful, green place for families to live. Homes will be built to fit into the natural shape of the land, with lots of open space and beautiful views. People will start moving into Expo Valley later in 2026.

This project is part of the larger Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to make the city a better place for everyone. It also supports the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which focuses on growth, jobs, and a better quality of life.

The new nature reserve in Expo Valley is more than just a park. It is a promise to protect nature, improve health, and make the future brighter. With help from Proscape, Expo City Dubai is showing how cities of the future can grow with care for both people and the planet.
