Ex-Newcastle star Papiss Cisse joins UAE club in latest career move

Former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cissé has joined UAE club Al Qabila FC. The Dubai-based team shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of Cissé holding the number 18 shirt. The club is excited to have him, calling him a key player who can help them do well in their first season.

Al Qabila praised Cissé’s football journey, saying he scored 37 goals in the Premier League for Newcastle. They also noted his experience with Senegal’s national team, where he played in the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup. The club believes his skills will help them aim for promotion.

The signing was announced in the presence of Club President, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and Founder Soheil Var. They both shared their happiness about bringing in a top-level player like Cissé, calling it a big step for the club and UAE football.

Al Qabila FC was formed in 2024 and plays in the UAE Third Division League. Even though the club is new, they have big goals. Signing a famous player like Cissé shows their plan to build a strong team and make a mark in UAE football.
