ENOC Group and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have joined hands to explore the use of green hydrogen in public transportation. They signed a trial agreement to test the feasibility of hydrogen-powered mobility solutions in Dubai. This initiative supports the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and strengthens the UAE’s goal of developing a green hydrogen economy.
The agreement was officially signed at the ENOC Group headquarters by Burhan Al Hashemi, Managing Director of ENOC Commercial and International Sales, and Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, Chief Executive Officer of The Public Transport Agency (PTA) at RTA. The signing was witnessed by Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC.

As part of this partnership, ENOC Group will supply green hydrogen fuel for RTA’s hydrogen-powered city buses. In addition, ENOC will provide technical assistance and share data on hydrogen refueling to help RTA conduct a detailed study on the viability of hydrogen-powered transport. Both organizations have committed to maintaining the highest safety and operational standards throughout the trial phase.
Saif Humaid Al Falasi emphasized the importance of this project, stating, “Green hydrogen is a promising alternative to traditional fuels. With the UAE focusing on developing a hydrogen economy, we are proud to lead its adoption in the region.”
Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan also highlighted the significance of this agreement, saying that it marks a key step in strengthening collaboration between RTA and ENOC Group. He added that using green hydrogen to power RTA’s public transport, including buses and marine vehicles, will make them more environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Green hydrogen is produced through a process called electrolysis, where water is split into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity from renewable sources like solar and wind. This method does not release carbon dioxide (CO2), making it a clean energy option. Along with reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting cleaner air, green hydrogen can also extend the driving range of vehicles, offering an efficient solution for the future of transportation.
By working together, ENOC Group and RTA aim to pave the way for a greener and more sustainable transport system in Dubai, supporting the UAE’s vision for a cleaner energy future.
