Emirates Airlines is gearing up for a busy travel period during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, with a large number of passengers flying in and out of Dubai. The airline expects heavy traveller traffic at Terminal 3, especially on March 28 and 29 and again on April 5 and 6. On these dates, over 80,000 customers are expected to depart from Dubai each day, as many head abroad for their spring break holidays.
Because of the high number of travellers, Emirates is advising passengers to allow extra time when heading to Terminal 3. The airline warns that there may be traffic congestion around the airport entrances, so it is best to leave home earlier than usual.
To avoid any last-minute stress, Emirates recommends that passengers arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their flight. Travellers should also double-check their boarding times to ensure they don’t miss their flight.

To make the process smoother, Emirates offers several check-in options. Passengers can check in online through emirates.com or the Emirates App starting 48 hours before departure. For added convenience, customers can use the Emirates City Check-in and Travel Store in ICD Brookfield Place, where they can check in from 24 hours up to 4 hours before their flight. However, this service is not available for US-bound flights. Emirates also offers a home check-in service, where travellers can complete the check-in process from their residence or hotel. At the airport, the airline provides self-service kiosks and baggage drop-off points at Terminal 3. There are also mobile check-in stations placed throughout the terminal. For those travelling from the northern Emirates, Emirates offers a check-in service at the Ajman Central Bus Terminal, allowing them to check in 24 hours to 4 hours before their flight.
To make travel day less stressful, Emirates allows passengers to drop off their luggage the night before their flight at no extra cost. Customers can also check in early and drop off their bags 24 hours before departure (or 12 hours before for US-bound flights). This option lets passengers proceed directly to immigration or use the Smart Tunnel for faster processing on the day of travel.
Emirates advises all travellers to clear passport control and security at least 90 minutes before departure. Passengers booked in Premium Economy or Economy Class should be at the gate 60 minutes before their flight, while those flying in First or Business Class should arrive at the gate 45 minutes before departure. The boarding gates will close 20 minutes before the flight. Emirates warns that passengers arriving late will not be accepted for travel, as the airline will strictly follow its check-in and gate closure times to ensure flights leave on schedule.
By planning ahead and making use of the various check-in options, Emirates passengers can enjoy a smooth and stress-free travel experience during the busy Eid Al Fitr holiday.
