Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has taken a big step toward making driving schools safer and smarter. Over the last seven months, RTA has used a new Smart Monitoring System in driving school vehicles. This system uses AI-powered cameras to watch the behaviour of both instructors and students during training sessions.
The results have been amazing: more than 1.7 million training sessions were monitored for over 245,000 trainees. That’s 14 times more than the same period last year!
The Smart Monitoring System is a group of tools and cameras that work together to track how driving instructors and learners behave inside the car. The cameras are powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and can recognize many actions.
They watch for things like:
This helps make sure everyone is focused, safe, and professional while learning how to drive.
The system is part of RTA’s Licensing Intelligent Operations Centre. In the past, RTA inspectors had to spend 20 minutes to do one inspection. Now, using the smart system, it only takes 1 minute. That’s 20 times faster!
Also, the number of violations caught has increased five times. This shows how powerful and accurate the system is.
The Smart Monitoring System is making driving schools in Dubai safer, faster, and more effective. It is helping learners become better drivers, and instructors stay focused on their job.
This smart system is part of RTA’s bigger vision to make Dubai a world leader in safe, smart, and green transport. It also supports Dubai’s plan for digital transformation, where technology is used to improve daily services.
By using AI, smart tablets, and advanced monitoring, RTA is setting a new example for driving education around the world.
RTA is not stopping here. They are planning to add more features to the system this year, such as:
Predictive analytics to guess future problems or needs
Linking data about instructor performance with the licensing system
Better tracking and follow-up tools
These upgrades will help RTA and driving schools keep training safe, professional, and up to global standards.
The success of this system also depends on the support of driving schools and their staff. RTA works closely with its partners to make sure all rules and safety standards are followed. Everyone involved—students, instructors, and driving companies—must play their part.
By working together, Dubai can build a driving education system that is smart, safe, and ready for the future.
The Smart Monitoring System launched by Dubai’s RTA is a big step forward. It is using smart technology to watch, protect, and guide drivers during training. With faster inspections, better safety, and smarter tools, this system shows how Dubai is always looking ahead.
This is more than just a camera system—it’s a new way of thinking about driving education.
