Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially inaugurated two significant new bridges that enhance connectivity between Al Khail Road and Jebel Ali. These bridges are situated in the Zaa’beel and Al Quoz 1 areas and together span a total of 1,350 meters, significantly improving traffic flow in the region.
The Zaa’beel bridge, measuring 700 meters, is designed to streamline traffic from Zaa’beel Palace Street and Oud Metha Street onto Al Khail Road heading towards Jebel Ali. This bridge is equipped with three lanes and can handle up to 4,800 vehicles per hour.
In contrast, the Al Quoz 1 bridge, extending 650 meters, facilitates the movement of traffic from Al Meydan Street to Al Khail Road. This bridge features two lanes and has a capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour.

In addition to the new bridges, the RTA has revealed that the development project on Al Khail Road, which includes both bridge construction and lane widening, is currently 80% complete. This extensive project spans seven key sites: Al Jaddaf, Business Bay, Zaa’beel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadir Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle.
The initiative aims to reduce travel time by 30%, increase the capacity of existing intersections and bridges by 19,600 vehicles per hour, and improve overall traffic efficiency. Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of the RTA, emphasized that these upgrades are crucial for accommodating the demands of urban development and population growth, ultimately enhancing traffic flow throughout the city.
