China Plans to Boost Cross-Border Financial Services in Shanghai

Post by: Layla Badr

China is planning to make it easier to handle financial services between different countries in Shanghai. This will help make Shanghai a bigger and better international financial hub. The plan was made by China’s central bank, the Shanghai government, and other financial leaders.

The new plan has 18 important steps to make things easier. These steps include speeding up the process of cross-border payments, helping companies deal with risks in foreign currency, and improving the insurance services for companies that export goods.

China also wants to make it easier to manage foreign exchange, which is the money used to trade between countries. Companies will be encouraged to set up fund pools in Shanghai, where they can manage and use their global funds more easily.

The plan also talks about using new technology, like blockchain, to help financial institutions provide better digital services. This will make it easier for companies to expand their businesses to other countries.

In addition, China wants to improve the Cross-Border Interbank Payment System, which helps banks from different countries communicate with each other. The plan encourages more banks to join this system.

As part of this plan, China will also give more insurance support to important export businesses, such as companies that make commercial airplanes and electric cars. The plan even suggests that insurance companies work together with reinsurance companies to form groups that can help cover special risks.

Overall, these changes aim to make Shanghai a key player in global finance and help companies expand and manage their businesses more effectively.
