Davies joined Bayern Munich in 2019 from Vancouver Whitecaps when he was just 18. Since then, he has helped Bayern win five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League. His old contract was about to end in the summer, and many people thought he might leave. But now, with this new deal, he will stay at Bayern for a long time.
In his statement, Davies said he has done a lot at the club but is excited for what’s to come in the next five years.
This comes just one day after Bayern Munich also gave their captain and goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, a one-year contract extension, keeping him with the team until 2026.
German said Bayern Munich is also planning to extend contracts for other key players like Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich.
Davies is currently recovering from a hamstring injury that he got in January, so he is not expected to return to playing until late February. In his time at Bayern Munich, Davies has played 220 games, mostly as a wing-back but also as a forward. He has scored 12 goals and made 34 assists.
Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, said this contract shows how important Bayern is in world football and that Davies has found the right place to play in Munich.
For Canada, Davies has played 56 times, scoring 16 goals. He became the captain of the team in 2024.
