Around 10 people were killed in a shooting at an adult school in Orebro, Sweden, on Tuesday. Police believe the shooter is also dead, and they are still searching the school for more victims. The reason for the attack is not known yet.
The police chief, Roberto Eid Forest, said the situation is too big to give exact numbers at the moment. "We know about 10 people were killed. We can't be more exact because it's such a big event," he said.

The police think the shooter acted alone and do not believe it was a terrorist attack. They said the shooter was not known to the police before. The police are still investigating and talking to people who saw what happened.
The shooting took place at Risbergska School in Orebro, about 200 km west of Stockholm, the capital. This school helps adults who didn’t finish their education or couldn’t get into higher schools. It is on the same campus as schools for children. Police have started an investigation into the crime for murder, starting a fire, and serious gun crimes.
Sweden’s Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, said it was a "very sad day for Sweden." He later said it was the worst mass killing in Sweden’s history and hard to understand how something so terrible could happen.
Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf also gave his condolences. He said he and his family were deeply sad about the attack. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, also sent her sympathy and said, "In this dark time, we stand with the people of Sweden."
Maria Pegado, a teacher at the school, said she was teaching when someone came into her class and told everyone to leave quickly. She led her 15 students into the hallway, and they started running away from the school. She heard two gunshots but made it out safely. She saw people pulling injured people out of the school when they got close to the exit.
Many people who go to adult schools in Sweden are immigrants. They want to learn more so they can find better jobs and learn the Swedish language.
While Sweden has been dealing with more shootings and bombings caused by gangs, shootings at schools are not common. The Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention says there were 10 deaths from shootings at schools between 2010 and 2022.
In Sweden, many people have guns for hunting, but there are fewer guns than in the United States. The rise in gang violence has made illegal guns more common.
In 2015, a man with racist ideas shot and killed a teacher and a student, and injured two other people at a school. There was also a truck attack in 2017, when a man drove into a crowd of people in Stockholm, killing five people.
This new attack has shocked Sweden, and people are still trying to understand how something so terrible could happen in their country.
