The movie is set in the world of Formula 1 racing. Brad Pitt plays a retired driver who returns to the sport. He teams up with Damson Idris, who plays his teammate at a made-up racing team called APXGP. The movie also features stars like Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.
"F1" is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also directed "Top Gun: Maverick." The film’s script was written by Ehren Kruger, who worked on "Top Gun: Maverick" as well. The movie was filmed at real Formula 1 races, and 29 days of shooting happened in Abu Dhabi at places like the Yas Marina Circuit and twofour54 Studios at Yas Creative Hub.
A team of 284 local crew members in Abu Dhabi worked on the film, and 15 young interns, including five Emirati youth, helped on set. The Abu Dhabi Film Commission supported the project, which has been helping film productions since 2013. They have worked on over 170 big projects, providing financial and technical help.
Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Creative Media Authority, said that working with Apple Original Films was a great opportunity. He added that the film will show off Abu Dhabi’s famous places on the big screen.
Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, said they were happy to help with the film’s production. He highlighted that the Commission’s goal is to help young Emirati talent grow and provide support for film projects.
"F1" is expected to be a very exciting film, offering a close look at Formula 1 racing and giving Abu Dhabi a chance to shine on the world stage.
