Singer Angie Stone died in a car accident on Friday in Montgomery, Alabama. She was 63 years old. Angie was a famous singer and songwriter. She started her music career as part of the hip-hop group The Sequence. The group was the first all-female hip-hop group signed to Sugar Hill Records and became famous for their song "Funk You Up" in 1979.

Her Family and Personal Life
Angie was married to Rodney Stone, who was also known as Lil' Rodney C! He was a member of the hip-hop group Funky Four Plus One. They got married in the early 1980s and had a daughter named Diamond in 1984. However, they later got divorced.

In the 1990s, Angie was in a relationship with neo-soul artist D’Angelo. They had a son, Michael D’Angelo Archer II, in 1998.

How Her Death Was Confirmed
Her daughter Diamond, who is now 41 years old, confirmed the sad news of her mother's passing. She wrote on Facebook, "My mommy is gone."
A well-known music promoter, Van Silk, also confirmed Angie’s death. In a statement to AllHipHop, he said:

"I received a call from her team saying that Angie had passed away." At first, he thought her health condition might be the reason, as she was going through kidney dialysis. But later, he found out that she died in a terrible accident.
According to reports, nine people were traveling with Angie in a Sprinter van. They were returning to Atlanta after a show in Alabama when the accident happened.
Van Silk also shared that he and Angie were close friends. He said:
"Angie will be missed. We used to text or call each other every morning."

Angie Stone’s Music and Acting Career

Apart from being a hip-hop artist, Angie was also a successful solo singer. She released her first solo album, Black Diamond, in 1999. She named the album after her daughter Diamond.

Angie was also an actress. She appeared in several movies, including The Hot Chick (2002) and Ride Along (2014), which starred comedian Kevin Hart.
