Aimee Harris, a Florida resident, has received a one-month prison sentence and three months of home confinement in the United States for her involvement in stealing and selling the diary of President Joe Biden's daughter, Ashley Biden. Charged with selling the diary to the conservative group Project Veritas four years ago, Harris faced condemnation from Manhattan federal court judge Laura Taylor Swain, who deemed her actions "despicable."

Harris, residing in Florida, came into possession of Ashley Biden's diary, along with other personal belongings, after finding them at a friend's home in Delray Beach in 2020. Ashley had believed her items were safely stored there following a temporary stay in the spring of that year. Tearfully apologizing for selling Ashley Biden’s private writings, Harris expressed remorse for her actions, stating, “I do not believe I am above the law.” She cited her responsibilities as a mother of two young children and disclosed her history of enduring long-term domestic abuse and sexual trauma to the judge.

Facing a lawyer representing Ashley Biden in court, Harris directly apologized to the president's daughter, acknowledging the invasion of her privacy and the distress caused by the public exposure of her personal life. Ordered to report to prison in July, Harris refrained from commenting as she exited the courthouse.

Harris pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge in August 2022, admitting to receiving $20,000 of the $40,000 paid by Project Veritas for Ashley Biden's personal items. Alongside a co-defendant from nearby Jupiter, Florida, Robert Kurlander, Harris also attempted to sell Ashley Biden’s belongings to then-President Donald Trump's 2020 presidential campaign.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Sobelman argued for a prison sentence, alleging that Harris sought to inflict damage upon Ms. Biden's father for financial gain. Project Veritas, founded in 2010, claims to be a news organization known for its undercover investigations that have stirred controversy within news outlets, labor organizations, and Democratic politicians.
