ADNOC Distribution has taken a major step toward transforming road travel in the UAE with the launch of a massive new superfast electric vehicle (EV) charging hub and the unveiling of a nationwide highway electrification plan to be completed by 2027. The announcement comes ahead of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, as global leaders gather in the capital to discuss the future of energy, transport, and sustainable infrastructure.
The new EV Megahub is strategically located at Saih Shuaib on the E11 highway, the main road linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai and one of the busiest transport corridors in the country. Designed to support long-distance and inter-city travel, the facility features 60 high-speed charging points capable of charging most electric vehicles from 0 to 80 per cent in around 20 minutes.
This makes the site the largest superfast EV charging hub in the Middle East, Africa, and Türkiye, and the sixth largest in the world. It also forms the cornerstone of ADNOC Distribution’s ambitious plan to build a comprehensive EV charging network across the UAE’s national highways.
Under this roadmap, ADNOC Distribution plans to open 20 EV charging hubs by the end of 2027, with 15 of them scheduled to come online in 2026. Once completed, the network will provide reliable, high-speed charging coverage across all major UAE highways, making long-distance electric travel practical, seamless, and stress-free.
His Excellency Eng Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said the new hub represents a key step in implementing the UAE’s National Electric Vehicles Policy. He noted that the E11 location is especially important as it serves one of the country’s most vital transport routes and supports both daily commuters and inter-city travellers.
He added that expanding the high-speed charging network is central to the UAE’s strategy to reduce energy consumption in the transport sector and to support the Global EV Market initiative, which aims for electric vehicles to make up 50 per cent of all cars on UAE roads by 2050. According to him, these efforts go beyond infrastructure and are helping to build a fully integrated, smart, and sustainable mobility ecosystem.
Eng Bader Saeed Al Lamki, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, said the company, which has been serving motorists since 1973, is now helping shape the future of mobility in the UAE. He described the new Megahub as the company’s first highway location built specifically for the needs of inter-city commuters and a key milestone in expanding ADNOC Distribution’s E2GO charging network.
As demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, he said, ADNOC Distribution is focused on redefining convenience and ensuring drivers can travel across the country with confidence, supported by a reliable and expanding charging infrastructure.
The project also aligns with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure’s long-term goal of having half of all vehicles on the country’s roads powered by batteries by 2050. ADNOC Distribution is playing a central role in this transition through its E2GO network, which already includes more than 400 charging points nationwide and is set to expand to up to 750 by 2028.
Beyond charging, the new Megahub also marks the opening of the first “The Hub by ADNOC” location designed specifically for commuters. Following the launch of the concept in November 2025 with a community focus, this new site is built on a much larger scale—around three times the size of a traditional service station.
It brings together fuel services, EV charging, food outlets, and lifestyle facilities in one place. In a first for ADNOC Distribution, the site also includes a dedicated coworking space, giving travellers a comfortable place to work, rest, or connect while stopping between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
With more than 560 service stations across the UAE, the largest network in the country, ADNOC Distribution is well positioned to scale up EV infrastructure quickly and efficiently. The company says its highway hub rollout and broader expansion plans are designed not only to meet today’s needs, but also to support future growth in line with the UAE’s long-term electrification and sustainability goals.
