The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), and Masdar City have teamed up to create new health and science labs. These labs will help researchers and entrepreneurs in the health field to work together and grow. This partnership was announced during the Abu Dhabi Global Health Week 2025 (ADGHW), which is happening at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi until 17 April 2025.

The agreement was signed by important leaders, including Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the DoH. Dr. Asma Ibrahim Al Mannaei, Dr. Fatma Al Mulla, and Mohamed Al Breiki also signed the deal on behalf of their organizations.

The deal has four main parts. First, the lab spaces will be built in Masdar City, and these will have the latest technology to help with scientific research. Second, the partners plan to bring in top researchers and start-ups to work together on projects. Third, they will build connections with universities and businesses to share knowledge and do joint research. Fourth, they will help new life-science businesses grow by creating programs that support them. They will also help students get jobs and internships, offer workshops, and organize science conferences to share research.

The partnership also aims to turn the research done in these labs into real-life products by working with big companies in the health industry. This will help grow Abu Dhabi's economy and improve healthcare.

Dr. Asma Ibrahim Al Mannaei, Executive Director at DoH, said that research is key to creating better healthcare. This partnership will help find new ways to treat people and care for communities. It also helps Abu Dhabi lead the world in healthcare innovation.

Dr. Fatma Al Mulla, Head of the HELM Cluster at ADIO, said this agreement shows how committed Abu Dhabi is to growing the life sciences industry. They want to create spaces where scientists and businesses can work together to make new breakthroughs that will help people live healthier lives.

ADIO, DoH, and Masdar City will also create a plan to look at how the labs will help Abu Dhabi's economy and healthcare in the long run. They will make sure these new labs can support the growth of research and scientific jobs in the future.

Mohamed Al Breiki, from Masdar City, said this agreement makes Masdar City an important part of Abu Dhabi’s plan to be a global leader in life sciences. Masdar City already has a growing number of health and science companies, and these new labs will help them grow even more. The goal is to turn research into real-world solutions that will help Abu Dhabi’s economy.

This partnership is part of the ADGHW event, which focuses on the future of healthcare. The event's theme this year is “Towards Longevity: Redefining Health and Well-being.” It focuses on healthy living and finding ways to prevent illness and care for people in the best way possible.
