Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council Partners with Abu Dhabi Global Market to Ensure Product Safety

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) has announced a strategic partnership with the Registration Authority at Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM Registration Authority). This agreement aims to enhance cooperation between the two entities to ensure product safety and market fairness, ultimately protecting consumers and boosting Abu Dhabi's economy.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADQCC. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Helal Humaid Al Kaabi, Secretary-General of ADQCC, and Hamad Sayah Al Mazrouei, CEO of ADGM Registration Authority.

His Excellency Dr. Helal Humaid Al Kaabi emphasized the significance of the agreement, stating: "The signing of this MoU reflects ADQCC's commitment to strengthening cooperation with stakeholders to ensure product safety and market fairness, which will protect consumers and boost the economy of Abu Dhabi."

Hamad Sayah Al Mazrouei, CEO of ADGM Registration Authority, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership: "We are delighted to sign the MoU with the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council. This partnership underscores our commitment to strengthening our business community and ensuring a seamless experience on Al Maryah and Al Reem Islands as we strive to achieve the highest levels of excellence to further strengthen Abu Dhabi’s global position as a leading destination to work, live, and thrive."

According to the agreement, ADQCC's Market and Consumer Services Sector will carry out inspections in coordination with the ADGM Registration Authority. These inspections will cover a wide range of restricted products, including household electrical appliances, toys, household chemical cleaners, tobacco and cigarette products, vehicle tires, and food contact materials.

In addition, ADQCC will conduct metrological verification (measurement) of pre-packaged products and legal measuring instruments. This includes the inspection of commercial selling scales, jewelry scales, oud and Arabic perfume measurements, and petroleum derivatives meters at service stations. These operations will be carried out within the commercial and industrial facilities of the Abu Dhabi Global Jurisdiction Area, which operates under its own set of laws and regulations.

Since 2018, ADQCC has been internationally accredited as a globally recognized inspection body in accordance with the international standard ISO 17020. This accreditation underscores the council's commitment to maintaining high standards in product safety and market fairness.

The collaboration between ADQCC and ADGM Registration Authority is expected to foster a safer and more equitable market environment in Abu Dhabi, enhancing consumer protection and contributing to the emirate's economic growth.
