The "Donate Your Own Device" campaign, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives, has reached a significant milestone in Dubai. The campaign has successfully collected over 32,000 used electronic devices, which will be refurbished and recycled to support underprivileged students enrolled in the Digital School program worldwide. This initiative, launched in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) under the theme "Donate to Educate," aims to provide essential devices for digital education to students in need.

The achievements of the campaign align with the observance of "Global Recycling Day" on March 18, underscoring the campaign's humanitarian, educational, and environmental objectives. This initiative reflects the UAE's commitment to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and its role in preserving the environment through recycling while ensuring access to education for students globally.

The donated electronic devices include computers, tablets, smartphones, screens, printers, projectors, and accessories. These devices will be refurbished or recycled in an environmentally responsible manner, adhering to best practices to reduce electronic waste, which accounts for a significant portion of toxic waste globally.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Digital School, highlighted the success of the campaign. He emphasized the intrinsic value of giving within UAE society and the importance of humanitarian initiatives and sustainability efforts. Al Olama commended the widespread participation in the campaign and the collaborative efforts of government and private sector entities and academic institutions in achieving its goals.

The Digital School initiative aims to provide digital education solutions for underprivileged students worldwide, recognizing digital education as the future of learning. The "Donate Your Own Device" campaign exemplifies this vision through an innovative humanitarian and environmental initiative that aligns with the UAE's directives in promoting sustainability and advancing international cooperation to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Rashid Al Mansouri, Secretary General of the Emirates Red Crescent, emphasized the significance of the "Donate to Educate" campaign in supporting the Digital School's educational programs. He praised the campaign's widespread response from various sectors in the UAE, surpassing its objectives within a short period. Al Mansouri reiterated the ERC's commitment to its strategic partnership with the Digital School, aiming to enhance smart education opportunities for less privileged communities regionally and globally.

Dr. Waleed Al-Ali, the Secretary-General of The Digital School, hailed the campaign as an innovative partnership for education and sustainability. He emphasized its role as a global model for addressing the challenges associated with digital education and empowering students in underserved communities.

Youssef Chehade, co-founder of eCyclex and a partner in the "Donate Your Own Device" campaign, highlighted the importance of supporting education in less connected areas affected by climate change. He emphasized the transformative impact of education in enabling students to build a better future for their families and communities amidst environmental challenges.
