As heavy rainfall persists across various regions of the UAE, including Dubai and Sharjah, residents are adapting to the adverse weather conditions by opting for alternative modes of transportation. With roads submerged in water, many are turning to public transport or carpooling to ensure a smooth commute to work.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted unsettled weather for nearly two days in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, advising residents to stay prepared. Heavy rainfall, accompanied by hailstorms in some areas, has been experienced across the country since Tuesday morning.
Public transport has emerged as a lifeline for many residents amidst the challenging weather conditions. Mohammed Usman, a Sudanese resident, shared his experience of opting for public transport due to unsafe road conditions caused by flooding. Similarly, Ahmed al Najar, an Egyptian expat, chose to call a cab to avoid the risk of driving in heavy rain and potential damage to his car.

In addition to public transport, carpooling has become a popular solution for residents, especially those with low ground clearance cars who need assistance navigating through waterlogged streets. Ravi Das, a resident of Al Nahda in Dubai, highlighted the community spirit as neighbors come together to support each other during these difficult times.
Meanwhile, some residents have opted to work from home to avoid commuting altogether. Khalid, a sales executive, emphasized the flexibility of work arrangements provided by his company, allowing him to continue working effectively from home.
Despite the challenges posed by heavy rainfall, residents are navigating through water puddles and traffic congestion to reach their destinations. Mohammed Abunael, a marketing executive, described the delays encountered due to waterlogged roads but appreciated the proactive measures taken by both the government and private companies to manage the situation.
Overall, residents are adapting to the adverse weather conditions by making use of alternative transportation methods, demonstrating resilience and community solidarity in the face of challenging circumstances.
