This collaboration is poised to strengthen Sharjah’s digital infrastructure, propelling the emirate’s ongoing digital transformation efforts and fostering innovative communication solutions. A key aspect of the initiative is the exploration of renewable energy sources for the data centres, which will set new sustainability standards within the industry. Khazna Data Centres is tasked with developing these facilities, ensuring they serve as models for sustainable, advanced digital infrastructure. Meanwhile, the SCTA will provide essential regulatory support, allocate land for the development, and ensure the provision of energy infrastructure to support the project’s success.
The project is not only a milestone for Sharjah’s digital sector but also a significant contribution to the broader global movement towards more sustainable and efficient data management. The development of Kalba’s Free Zone into a leading hub for artificial intelligence is expected to attract global attention and solidify Sharjah’s role in advancing digital services.
In addition to the MOU signing, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi took the opportunity to visit BEEAH’s ongoing art exhibition titled *“Women’s Work: From Handicrafts to Fine Arts—Reviving Arab Textile Arts,”* which is held in partnership with the Barjeel Art Foundation. The exhibition showcases a captivating mix of traditional handicrafts and fine arts, highlighting the skill and creativity of Arab women throughout history.
The signing event was attended by several key figures, including Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department; Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority; Engineer Hamad Jumaa Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Planning and Survey Department; Saeed Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority, along with other senior government officials. Their presence underscores the importance of the project and the collective efforts to drive Sharjah’s future in digital technology and sustainability.
This partnership between BEEAH, Khazna Data Centres, and SCTA is a testament to Sharjah's commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and environmental sustainability, positioning the emirate as a global leader in the rapidly evolving digital age.
