During a morning meeting on Monday, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and President of Khorfakkan University, presided over the Board of Trustees meeting at the university's headquarters. His Highness emphasized the university's pivotal role in fostering social interaction within Khorfakkan and highlighted the significant impact its programs and activities have on the city's scientific and cultural landscape. He reiterated the importance of promoting values and social cohesion through the university's initiatives, stressing the need for an environment that supports the holistic development of both male and female students.
His Highness granted approval for the establishment of an integrated sports complex that will cater to various internal and external sporting activities. Additionally, he approved the university's budget for the upcoming year and reviewed reports from various council committees, including those focusing on academic, financial, compliance, auditing, and financial resource development.
A key directive issued by His Highness was to conduct comparative analyses of the university's study programs against those of leading educational institutions. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of academic offerings and ensure alignment with best practices in higher education.
The Board of Trustees discussed several topics regarding the university’s future plans and critical scientific partnerships designed to elevate academic and research programs. They also reviewed regular performance reports to assess ongoing advancements.
Dr. Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, Chancellor of Khorfakkan University, presented a comprehensive report detailing the university's progress and achievements in line with the objectives set by the Board of Trustees. The report covered advancements across various departments, administrative functions, and enhancements to the academic framework within authorized study programs.
During his visit, His Highness stopped by the female students' lounge, where he engaged with a group of students. He offered valuable insights on maximizing the university's resources and emphasized the importance of pursuing knowledge and skills offered by the institution.
His Highness received a detailed briefing on various university projects, including the construction of accommodations for both male and female students, the development of the Khorfakkan Marine Research Institute, and a proposed aquarium project.
The Ruler of Sharjah also toured the newly redesigned and expanded university library, aimed at providing an exceptional learning environment equipped with comprehensive services and facilities. The expansion project has been strategically planned to accommodate over 230 students and includes three designated reading areas, three sections for bookshelves, two electronic libraries, discussion rooms, and an open debate area. The library also features separate study spaces for male and female students, a seating area, a café, and administrative offices.
His Highness concluded his tour with a visit to the students' lounge, where he interacted with students who warmly welcomed him. They expressed their satisfaction with being part of the university and highlighted the institution’s exceptional academic resources and programs.

Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Public Works Department; Hana Saif Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Chair of the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority; Dr. Muhadditha Yahya Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority; Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director General of the Sharjah Police Science Academy; Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah; Dr. Hashim Abdullah bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, Chancellor of the Sharjah Maritime Academy; Issa Saif bin Hanzel, Director of the Legal Department of the Government of Sharjah; Eng. Abdulrahman Al Naqbi, Director of Khorfakkan Municipality; Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Al Shehhi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Professor Stuart Bearhop, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Global Engagement, and Professor of Animal Ecology at the University of Exeter.
