The boss of a big company that helps people open online shops says that workers must now prove a computer can't do a job before asking for more help or money. The boss’s name is Tobi Lütke. He told his workers that smart computers, which can talk and think a little like people, are now a big part of how the company works every day.

He wrote a message to everyone saying, "Before you ask for more people or tools, you must show why a computer can’t do the job." He also said to think, "What if these smart computers were already working with your team?"
This means a big change at the company. Before, using smart tools was a choice. Now, it's something every worker must do. This rule is for everyone — from new workers to the top people in the company.
Lütke said that this kind of smart computer work is growing faster than anything else he has seen in his life. He told workers to use these tools to help them write, learn new things, check work, and even give tips to others. He said, “I use these tools all the time, and I still don’t know everything they can do.”
The boss also said workers will be checked on how well they use these smart tools. Everyone must learn to use them better. He said it’s not easy, but with practice, people will get good at it. He added, “You need to learn how to ask good questions and give the computer clear details. It helps to ask your work friends how you are doing too.”
The company already uses many smart tools to help both workers and shop owners. One is a helper that can chat with business owners. Others help with small jobs that save time.
Lütke said workers who use smart tools well are able to do much more. He told stories of people who finished jobs that seemed too hard before. Some did 100 times more work with these tools. He said, “We are seeing our tools become 10 times more useful.”
This idea matches the company’s style. They want workers to always be learning and ready for change. Lütke said that at the start of a new job, workers should first try using smart tools to learn fast. He said, “Trying things early with these tools helps us learn faster.”
To make this easier, the company is giving workers the best tools. Builders can use tools like Copilot or other smart helpers, and everyone can use the company’s special chat tool to ask questions or get help. Lütke said this new way of working is not just needed — it’s also very exciting. He said, “These smart tools will change our company, our jobs, and our lives. We’re all in!”
Outside the company, many people are talking about how these tools might take away jobs, especially for people who write computer code. Some leaders say smart computers already do more than half the code work in some places. Others think people may not need to learn coding at all in the future.
