Following unprecedented rainfall in the UAE, the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, has directed pertinent authorities to promptly commence damage assessment in response to the adverse weather conditions experienced in the emirate.
According to a statement by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, released on X, Sheikh Dr. Sultan instructed the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure to urgently clear blocked valley drains in Fujairah, which had led to significant accumulation of rainwater in residential areas of Kalba city.

Highlighting the need for unified efforts, Sheikh Dr. Sultan emphasized the imperative for collaboration among Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Civil Defense Authority, Department of Social Services, municipal bodies, and all relevant agencies involved in logistical support. Their collective aim is to mitigate the impact of the weather conditions, evaluate damage, and expedite assistance measures.
Earlier in the week, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed issued a directive for a comprehensive evaluation of the nation's infrastructure in light of the recent events. Additionally, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, lauded the dedication of both citizens and residents in managing the situation. UAE leaders reiterated their unwavering commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of the populace amidst such challenges.
