Sam Curran, representing Punjab Kings, was fined half of his match fees for a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. This offence pertains to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision" during Punjab Kings' recent three-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis incurred a Rs 12 lakh fine for maintaining a slow over rate during RCB's nail-biting one-run defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.

An IPL statement elucidated, "Mr Faf du Plessis, Captain, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 36 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21, 2024."
This marks RCB's first over-rate offence of the season.
Curran's breach of the Code of Conduct saw him admitting to the offence and accepting the Match Referee's sanction. According to IPL regulations, for Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is deemed final and binding.
Punjab Kings' loss against Gujarat Titans marked their fourth consecutive defeat in the ongoing IPL season, leaving them languishing in the ninth position on the points table.
As the IPL season progresses, such disciplinary actions serve as reminders for players and teams to adhere to the stipulated Code of Conduct, maintaining the integrity and spirit of the game.
