Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said that his defender Raul Asencio felt very bad after some Real Sociedad fans shouted that he should die during their Copa del Rey match on Wednesday. The game was played at the Reale Arena in San Sebastian, and Madrid won 1-0. But people are talking more about the bad behavior of the crowd than the result.

The problem happened just before halftime when home fans started shouting "Asencio die." This was not the first time he faced such insults, but this was the first match where the referee stopped the game because of it. Vinicius Junior, Asencio’s teammate, heard the chants and told the referee, who then stopped the game for a short time.
Asencio is being investigated by a Spanish court because he is accused of sharing a private video of a minor recorded by two former Real Madrid youth players. Because of this, many people in different stadiums have shouted against him in recent weeks.
After the match, Ancelotti explained why he decided to replace Asencio at halftime. "Vinicius spoke to the referee, and he followed the rules. That is how things should happen," Ancelotti said. "I took Asencio off for two reasons. First, he was feeling upset, and second, he already had a yellow card, so I thought it was safer to replace him."
Many people spoke against the bad chants from the crowd. Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal said, "These kinds of insults should not happen. We don’t like them. There are other ways to show disagreement, but this is not the right way."
As the game was stopped, a video went viral on social media. It showed a Real Sociedad fan making monkey gestures at Vinicius Junior. This created more controversy.
Even with all these problems, Madrid won the match. The only goal of the game came in the 19th minute when 18-year-old Brazilian star Endrick scored. Jude Bellingham sent a great pass to him, and he finished with the outside of his foot. This goal gave Madrid an advantage for the second leg, which will be played at their home stadium, Santiago Bernabeu, on April 1.
Madrid played without Kylian Mbappe, who had a dental problem. Fede Valverde and Thibaut Courtois were also missing. Ancelotti decided to make some changes to his team before their next La Liga game against Real Betis and their Champions League match against Atletico Madrid. Players like Arda Guler, Fran Garcia, and Eduardo Camavinga got a chance to play, and they did well.
Endrick almost scored another goal in the second half, but his powerful shot hit the crossbar. Vinicius also had a chance, but Real Sociedad’s goalkeeper Alex Remiro made a good save. Bellingham tried twice near the end of the match, but Remiro stopped both his shots.
Madrid’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin also played well and made two important saves against Mikel Oyarzabal and Takefusa Kubo. The only bad news for Madrid was an injury to Dani Ceballos, who got hurt in the last minutes of the match after colliding with Kubo. "He has a muscle problem," Ancelotti said.
After the match, Ancelotti was happy with his team’s performance. "The team is doing well. We changed some players, but we stayed strong. It was a good defensive game," he said.
In the other semi-final first leg, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona played a thrilling 4-4 draw, making the second leg very exciting.
