With a generous grant from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE) has initiated a transformative project benefiting one million individuals in the Republic of Tanzania. This monumental endeavor expands Suqia UAE's reach, adding to its commendable track record of providing clean water access to communities worldwide since its inception in 2015. Collaborating with the Emirates Red Crescent, Suqia UAE is undertaking the implementation of sustainable water projects across various regions and villages in Tanzania, including the excavation of new artesian wells and the maintenance of existing ones to ensure the provision of safe and potable drinking water.

A joint delegation comprising representatives from Suqia and the Emirates Red Crescent recently visited Tanzania to finalize arrangements for the commencement of water projects in collaboration with local authorities. During this visit, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Human Relief Foundation in Tanzania, aimed at digging wells and supplying water to areas grappling with water scarcity and contamination. The initiative also entails the expansion of water networks in villages and rural areas, thereby extending the reach of beneficiaries across Tanzania.

Al Tayer emphasized Suqia UAE's overarching goal of combating water scarcity globally, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and expressed gratitude to the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, including the UAE Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Emirates Red Crescent Authority, and local authorities.

Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative in addressing water scarcity challenges, fostering stability, and upholding human rights principles. The Emirates Red Crescent Authority pledged unwavering support to Suqia UAE, affirming its commitment to advancing the shared goal of ensuring global water sustainability and alleviating the plight of underserved communities worldwide.

The collaborative efforts between Suqia UAE, the Emirates Red Crescent, and local Tanzanian authorities underscore the UAE's steadfast commitment to international cooperation and development, particularly in the vital realm of water security. Through initiatives like these, the UAE continues to serve as a beacon of hope and progress, making significant strides towards achieving a world where clean water is accessible to all, irrespective of geographical or socio-economic barriers.
