Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited Hatta to see the progress of important projects. These projects are being done to improve the area and make it a better place for people to live and visit. Sheikh Mohammed wants to help make sure that Hatta grows in a way that works well with nature. These projects are part of the bigger Dubai plan to make the city even better for the future.
Big Plans for Hatta’s Growth
Sheikh Mohammed looked at 65 different development projects in Hatta. These projects are worth AED 3.6 billion. They are meant to make services better and improve life in Hatta. So far, 41 of these projects are already finished. The aim of these projects is to help people live better lives by improving roads, services, and the economy. These plans are part of Dubai’s Vision 2030, which is a long-term plan to improve the city even more.
Hatta Winter Festival and Local Events
While in Hatta, Sheikh Mohammed also visited the Hatta Winter Festival. This festival is one of the five main events of the Hatta Winter 2024 program. The Hatta Winter program is aimed at showing Hatta as a popular winter destination. The festival has a mix of cultural, entertainment, sports, and educational activities for all ages. The festival will go on until January 2025.

Sheikh Mohammed praised Brand Dubai for organizing the event. He also learned about other events happening in Hatta, such as the Hatta Cultural Nights, the Hatta Honey Festival, and the Hatta Agricultural Festival. These events help show the culture of Hatta and celebrate its heritage. The festival also gives a chance for local businesses to grow.
Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls Project
One of the highlights of Sheikh Mohammed’s visit was the unveiling of the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls. This new project includes a beautiful waterfall flowing from the Hatta Dam. It also features the world’s largest mosaic. The mosaic is 2,200 square meters in size, and it was made using 1.2 million pieces of marble. The mosaic honors the UAE’s founding fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project is meant to attract more visitors to Hatta and create more business opportunities for local people.
Supporting Young Innovators
Sheikh Mohammed also met with young Emirati entrepreneurs who are working on exciting projects. One of the projects is called GoGravity, founded by Khalifa and Ahmed Al Bedwawi. This project makes electric bikes that are made for rough, mountain areas. The business started in 2018 and has grown so much that it now sells bikes to other countries. Sheikh Mohammed also visited a local beekeeping project called the Al Bedwawi Honey project, run by Mohammed bin Ham Al Bedwawi. These projects show how young people in Hatta are using their skills to create new businesses and make a difference.
Private Sector Projects in Hatta
Sheikh Mohammed also learned about some ongoing private sector projects in Hatta. One of these is the Hatta Beach project. This project will cover 53,000 square meters and will have a beach, water sports activities, restaurants, and more. The goal is to make Hatta a fun, year-round destination for tourists.
There are other private sector projects as well, like new hotels, resorts, and a new downtown area. There are also 24 ongoing projects that will make life better for people in Hatta, including schools, a wedding hall, and community spaces. One exciting project is the Dubai Mountain Peak cable car. This cable car will take visitors to the highest point in Dubai, Um Al Nesoor Peak. From there, visitors can enjoy views of Hatta Dam, the hydroelectric power station, and the beautiful mountains.
