Masdar City in Abu Dhabi Unveils Largest Community Park Opening

Masdar City in Abu Dhabi has unveiled its latest project, Masdar Park, a expansive community space spanning 20 hectares. Positioned as a hub for innovation and sustainability, Masdar City's largest endeavor features green spaces, sports courts, playgrounds, and dedicated tracks for running and cycling. The park offers facilities for various sports such as volleyball, badminton, padel ball, and basketball, as well as a pump track and a 5km running and cycling circuit.

A notable aspect of Masdar Park is its commitment to sustainability. The park incorporates recycled materials and is powered by 340 solar panels, capable of generating more than 300 megawatts of solar energy annually. Additionally, the use of liquid nano-clay in the pump track underscores the city's dedication to water conservation.

Certified as an 'Exemplar' under the Estidama Public Realm Rating System in Abu Dhabi, Masdar Park also hosts the Estidama Mosque. To celebrate its opening, the park launched 'The Festival,' a free public event featuring a green circus parade, interactive light installations, creative workshops for all ages, and various food kiosks.

Mohamed Al Breiki, Executive Director of Sustainable Real Estate at Masdar City, emphasized that Masdar Park is not just a recreational space but a crucial element in Masdar City's commitment to pioneering sustainable urban living. The city, known for attracting a diverse mix of businesses, residents, and visitors, continues to thrive with over 1,000 organizations in the Masdar City Free Zone, including international agencies and technology firms. These entities contribute to Masdar City's role as a blueprint for future cities dedicated to addressing climate change.
