Lindsey Graham says DHS verified Laken Riley's murderer entered US illegally, breaking laws.

Senator Lindsey Graham, representing South Carolina, recently took to social media to share alarming information he received from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding the case of Laken Riley, a Georgia student tragically killed. According to Graham's post on X, DHS informed him that the suspect, Jose Antonio Ibarra, accused of Riley's murder, had been illegally paroled into the United States. The reason cited was the overflow of the Central Processing Center in El Paso, Texas. Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at Augusta University, was allegedly attacked and murdered while jogging at the University of Georgia in Athens.

Graham emphasized that Ibarra's parole into the US did not meet legal requirements, as it was not based on providing a significant benefit to the country or humanitarian grounds, as mandated by law. He criticized the Biden Administration for what he sees as a violation of the law, at the expense of innocent Americans.

Previously, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had informed Fox News Digital that the suspect was encountered by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on September 8, 2022, and subsequently paroled and released for further processing. It was revealed that Ibarra had been arrested by the New York Police Department a year prior to his parole, facing charges related to child injury and a motor vehicle license violation. ICE corrected its initial statement regarding the arrest date, stating that it occurred on August 31, 2023, not September 14, 2023.

The tragic discovery of Riley's body near a lake, with visible injuries, led to a comprehensive investigation. UGA Police Chief Jeff Clark confirmed that Riley was found after failing to return from a run, ultimately succumbing to blunt force trauma. Ibarra faces multiple charges, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another person.

Graham's revelation and the subsequent details of the case underscore the complex issues surrounding immigration, law enforcement, and public safety, prompting further scrutiny of the parole system and border management practices.
