During the meeting, the council discussed future plans for 2025, including research projects, new businesses, and international collaborations. His Highness stressed the importance of training young talent and ensuring that science and technology continue to grow in Abu Dhabi. He directed the council to introduce more impactful projects that will help strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position in research and development.

ATRC has made great progress this year, with a 20% increase in the number of scientists and researchers. The number of Emirati researchers grew by over 9%, with 210 UAE Nationals now contributing to important global research projects. This growth reflects ATRC’s commitment to creating a strong and thriving research community.

The council also expanded its work with international partners. Over the past year, ATRC completed 28 major research projects in collaboration with universities and institutions worldwide. It signed agreements with several international partners to support joint research and knowledge sharing. The council also established partnerships with governments of countries like Spain, Serbia, and Uzbekistan. At the same time, nine local organizations joined hands with ATRC to support national research and development efforts.

To help scientists and researchers, ATRC developed the UAE Research Map, a website that provides information, resources, and funding opportunities for research projects. This platform connects experts and helps promote new discoveries. The council also launched the STEM Youth Program, which engaged more than 3,000 young people and introduced seven new projects to encourage students to pursue careers in science and technology.

Through its applied research division, the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), ATRC worked on new inventions and successfully tested them in real-life settings. These projects exceeded expectations, demonstrating how advanced technology can be used in different areas, including air, land, and sea. ATRC also introduced artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and autonomous systems, supporting both industry and government sectors.

The council also organized three major international events. The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) showcased driverless car racing, the Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC) brought together top experts in robotics, and the XPRIZE Feed the Next Billion competition focused on finding innovative ways to produce food. In addition, ATRC signed 32 new agreements with various companies and research groups to work on new scientific advancements.

ATRC also launched three new ventures to support technological innovation. STEER AI is focused on smart and safe self-driving technology, QuantumGate is working on securing data in the digital world, and Nabat is using technology to restore and protect the environment. The first company created by ATRC, AI71, continued to expand, introducing new artificial intelligence solutions for workplaces and industries.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Dr. Ahmed Mubarak bin Nawi Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority; Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs; Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi; Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, Chairman of the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi; and Shahab Issa Abu Shahab, Director-General of ATRC.

The discussions highlighted Abu Dhabi’s strong commitment to advancing research and technology. ATRC will continue to support scientific development, invest in new projects, and nurture young talent, ensuring that the UAE remains a leader in innovation and advanced technology.
