The game started with Dubai Basketball trailing behind, but they quickly bounced back with eight straight points, leading 20-12 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, they played strong, and a layup by Danilo Anđušić gave them a 35-23 lead. Before halftime, Davis Bertans helped to extend the lead to 44-36.
In the fourth quarter, Spartak fought hard and almost caught up, bringing the score to just two points behind with less than two and a half minutes to go. But Isaiah Taylor, named Man of the Match, scored again to push Dubai’s lead and stop Spartak from coming back.
Taylor played an amazing game, scoring 22 points, giving 6 assists, and grabbing 2 rebounds. Jerry Boutsiele also had a strong game, getting 7 rebounds.
With this win, Dubai Basketball’s record is now 15-5, placing them in 4th place in the standings. They still have a chance to reach the playoffs.
Coach Jurica Golemac praised his team's performance, saying they controlled the game most of the time. He added that Spartak gave a tough fight, especially in the last quarter, but Dubai held strong and finished well to win.
“The win was well-earned,” said Coach Golemac. “We knew Spartak wouldn’t give up. They have a loud crowd cheering for them. We gave up some points in the last quarter, but we played great defense in the final minutes to win.”
The ABA League will take a break for three weeks. Dubai Basketball will return to action on Sunday, March 2, when they play against Cibona at Coca-Cola Arena, starting a series of three home games in a row.
