In the second Test match between India and Australia in Adelaide, India's batting struggled a lot against the Australian bowlers. India won the toss and decided to bat first, but they lost wickets quickly. By the end of the first session, India was in trouble with a score of 82/4, with Rishabh Pant (4*) and Rohit Sharma (1*) still at the crease.
India's top-order batsmen couldn't score many runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was out for a duck on the first ball of the match, bowled by Mitchell Starc. KL Rahul got out for 37 when Nathan McSweeney caught him off a delivery from Starc. Virat Kohli was out for only 7 after a ball from Starc was caught by Steve Smith at second slip. Shubman Gill was given out LBW (Leg Before Wicket) for 31, bowled by Scott Boland.
The second session of the match started with India at 82/4. Pant and Rohit were trying to rebuild the innings, but things didn’t go well for India. Pat Cummins, the Australian captain, took his first wicket of the day when he dismissed Pant for 21. Pant tried to hit the ball but didn't time it well, and it went into Marnus Labuschagne's hands. This happened just after Pant was hit on his back by a fastball from Starc while running for a single.

Now, India was in more trouble at 109/6. Nitish Kumar Reddy joined Ravichandran Ashwin at the crease. Both Reddy and Ashwin started playing better, with Ashwin hitting some boundaries and changing the momentum. The score moved to 141/6, and India hoped these two batsmen could form a partnership to stabilize the innings.
However, things got worse when Mitchell Starc took Ashwin's wicket for 22 with a fast yorker. This made the score 141/7, and India was in even bigger trouble.
The third session of the match began with India still struggling at 141/7. Nitish Kumar Reddy was still batting, but with just a few batsmen left, India needed a good partnership to survive. Australia’s bowlers, especially Starc and Cummins, were doing their best to take the remaining wickets and end India’s innings. India now needed to find a way to build partnerships and avoid being completely bowled out.
So far, Mitchell Starc has taken four wickets, and Pat Cummins has taken one. India now needs to focus on building partnerships and trying to recover from the collapse.
